I am writing to you out of concern for the preservation of the Triumph of Civic Virtue statue on the grounds of Queens Borough Hall. As you may know, recent efforts have been made to have it removed into private hands at the Green-Wood cemetery.

This is not in keeping with the wishes of my community. The statue is not sexist, as some have short-sightedly claimed. It is a representation of Civic Virtue through allegory. As the election season approaches, I think about exercising my own civic virtue, and would like to see you come out in favor of keeping the statue here in Queens and having it restored.
